okay, heres the thing...
i can play it on ORIGINAL R4, using WOOD R4 v1.26 (fyi, woodr4 is not an item, its an app/prog, so just download it, and extract it into ur memory card, and place it inside the r4 and it will work!!)

And for the record!
press X to open up the save menu!!!
fml... i restarted a few times before realising it!!
press up+B+select at the screen whereby u see the monster and it will prompt u to delete saved file!!
